Two Cuyahoga County attorneys who tried to collect $1 million in legal fees from the family of a teenage suicide victim for about 15 hours of work the attorneys did wrongly in a case were suspended Wednesday by the Ohio Supreme Court.
The court said the lawyers had hired their own lawyer, Tom Wilson, who came up with the idea of making an application to the probate judge to remove the girl's father from her estate. The hospital and her family had reached a confidential settlement, and Amaddio and Wargo - who are not partners in the law but often work together - helped the family build an estate on her behalf to manage the money. But the girls' family did not want to file a lawsuit against the hospital and so decided to take the case themselves, according to the court decision in the Wilson case and two attorneys, Mark Amadio of Cleveland Heights and Mark W Fargo of Cuyahoga Heights. They tried to pressure the boy's mother and father, the mother's ex-husband, to pay the charges by threatening to ask the judge to remove his name.

A lawyer can also help you get the compensation you deserve if you suffer a serious injury. A criminal defense attorney can ensure that law enforcement authorities respect your legal rights while they investigate and arrest you. Your lawyer can speak to the police and the Crown Prosecution Service on your behalf and ensure that they respect your rights.
